It’s strawberry season at my house and our little patch is putting out the most intensely strawberry-flavored strawberries that we’re trying to get to before the chipmunks reach them. Scroll down for a recipe for scrumptious pannacotta with fresh strawberries. 🍓
Last night, we finished watching The Residence on Netflix and I loved its Knives Out-esque nature and charismatic main character played by Uzo Aduba. 🔎 Despite taking place in the White House, it’s a great escape from current reality if you’re looking for one.
As usual, the news is a rollercoaster and it’s probably best not to dwell on it too much but scroll down for some good news. ➕
Also, if your fight has been slumping like mine has, take a minute to watch or read this truly inspiring Wake Forest University commencement speech by Scott Pelley, veteran 60 Minutes correspondent and author. 💬🙂It’ll buck you up. Hat tip to
for the suggestion! This week’s action is to register for a No Kings protest on June 14. 🫅✖️ After that, I think it’d be a good idea to get involved in voter registration where you live and elsewhere. 🗳️We need to flip the House in 2026 to start turning this ship around.
Take care of yourself and be kind to everyone around you, even the ones you disagree with who are wearing obnoxious red baseball caps.

ACT: TAKE TO THE STREETS TO SAY “NO KINGS” ON 6/14
Trump’s holding a massive military parade on June 14 so the resistance (aka all of us) is holding its own massive parade to show him and his dead-eyed henchmen (I’m looking at you, Stephen Miller) that American does not and never will embrace tyrants. READ MY LIPS, NO F-ING KINGS! I suggest that we all wear court jester hats to highlight how laughable Trump’s “rule” is. 🃏Please find and join a No Kings Protest on June 14. If you’re in my neck of the woods, let me know which one you want to attend and if you want to carpool.
WATCH: THE RESIDENCE
If you’re a fan of Knives Out, The Glass Onion and other murder mysteries, you’ll like Shondaland’s latest TV miniseries, The Residence, an eight-episode murder mystery that takes place in the White House residence and features one uncannily observant and self-assured detective, Cordelia Cupp, played by Uzo Adaba. It’s very well done. Watch on Netflix. 📺
EAT: STRAWBERRY PANNACOTTA
As an American, anything with an Italian name sounds deeply exotic to me. But this is actually a very simple dessert and it’s not hard to make. It’s delicious paired with a generous helping of the strawberries that are showing up at farmers markets and roadside stands right now.

Trump’s tariffs were halted by the Court of International Trade that ruled he exceeded his authority which was a huge blow to Project 2025. The White House quickly appealed and another court ruled that Trump is allowed to leave the tariffs in place while the courts fight it out. It seems that this question may likely headed to the Supreme Court.
Elon Musk has officially left the White House, and despite Trump’s gift of a golden key in the shape of the White House, Musk has made some snide comments about Trump’s policies lately. It seems that he’s bitter about the blowback from his joyful little “watch me destroy your democracy” spree. May all his SpaceX rockets continue to explode.
For a lift, read this great New York Times coverage on state by state climate solutions - there is actually so much we can accomplish even without a sane federal government. The Times is also looking for submissions so if you, your town, county, our state have something to offer, fill out the form at the end of the piece. Another hat tip to
for the rec.Everyone loves acronyms. Except Trump. He lashed out when a reporter asked him about his thoughts on “TACO Trade” which stands for “Trump Always Chickens Out” as Wall Street has mockingly nicknamed his wildly flipflopping approach to tariffs. 🌮
